Description:
The Artistic Behavioral Health Specialist will primarily provide psychosocial rehabilitation services and skill building classes to adults in an open art studio environment. Incumbent must be able to exercise discretion and independent judgment.

PSA Behavioral Health Agency has determined this is a safety sensitive position. Because this is a safety sensitive position and in accordance with its drug testing policy, PSA reserves the right to exclude or remove a person from this position if PSA believes in good faith that the employee's current use of any drug, legal, prescribed by a physician or otherwise if the drug could cause an impairment or otherwise decrease or lessen the employee's job performance or ability to perform the job duties. Employees are obligated to inform PSA of any current drug use that could impair or otherwise decrease or lessen the employee's job performance or ability to perform the job duties.

Job Functions
Provide psychosocial rehabilitation services to adults with a diagnosis of a serious mental illness.
Facilitate skills training and pre-job workshops in art studio settings.
Conduct and document individual enrollments into the program, including collecting information for the creation of a psychosocial assessment.
Oversee the health, safety and welfare of clients in the program.
Develop individualized treatment plans in coordination with clients' clinical teams and individual service plans.
Develop and maintain effective working relationships with community agencies, case managers and clinical teams.
Participate in clinical staffings and individual service planning sessions with case managers, treatment staff, family members and others to identify and meet client treatment and transition needs.
Assist clients in identifying and pursuing realistic treatment goals.
Maintain information on community resources for client assistance and support.
Provide education, assistance and support to family members and others involved with the client to enhance awareness of mental health challenges and to increase their ability to contribute to the rehabilitation process.
Conduct and document continuing assessments of client functioning.
Maintain client records and other documentation according to agency standards.
Provide emergency face to face counseling and/or crisis intervention as needed to avert or in response to client needs.
Complete documentation within the identified time frame.
Attend supervision and training to attain the amount of hours as required by state licensing standards.
As requested, participate in program and organizational events and functions.
Provide back up to other staff as needed and/or as assigned.
Other duties as negotiated.


Required Experience:
Qualification Requirements
Education/Experience:
Experience providing psychosocial rehabilitation services to adult client populations preferred.
Behavioral health experience/education to qualify as a Behavioral Health Technician (BHT).
Bachelor's degree in Social Work, Counseling, Psychology or a related human service field.
Bilingual preferred but not required.
Current and valid certification in first aid and CPR and valid AZ driver's license.
Five-year MVD Report that meets the agency's auto insurance carrier's coverage requirements.

Knowledge of:
Behavioral health assessment and rehabilitation.
Principles and methods of psychosocial rehabilitation.
Special needs and characteristics of the client population.
Counseling principles and methods.
Methods used to prevent violent behavior or behavior harmful to the client or others.
How to provide behavior management in crisis situations.
Indications, common side effects, reactions and interactions of medications commonly used by the client population.
Where to access resources for assistance.
How to document client activities and progress according to accepted professional and agency standards.

Skills:
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
Ability to facilitate art related groups and classes.
Group process and group facilitation.
Provision of recreational and social activities, life skills training and/or milieu activities.
Develop and implement treatment plans within the framework of a clinical team.
Develop groups that will address skills deficits through specific content and focus.
Can promote client responsibility, mastery and to recognize symptom exacerbation.
Creative, energetic, flexible and to serve as a healthy role model for clients.
Ability to provide behavior management and activity supervision


Additional Comments:
*** Must provide a five year motor vehicle report clear of any major moving violations

*** Must have a fingerprint card or capable of obtaining a finger print card clearance.

*** Must have current CPR & First Aid Certifications or obtain prior to first day of employment
