Our Mission
Be the Behavioral Health Transportation provider of choice. Make a difference every day in the lives of the people we transport.
Our History
ComTrans was formed in 1995 to meet a very specific and special need that was not being offered in Maricopa County. The countywide behavioral health crisis system needed a provider to move the clients who needed urgent, supervised transportation. ComTrans and ComCare, the company responsible for the Maricopa County behavioral health system, formulated a strategy to staff crisis transport teams with emergency medical technicians. These EMTs worked to relieve police and fire departments by transporting clients to and from Urgent Care Centers, detoxification facilities, domestic violence shelters, and hospitals.
Our crisis transportation teams were an immediate success. We received newspaper and television coverage. We were making it possible for local police and fire departments to clear the scene quicker; Mobile Intervention teams were freed up to provide more timely response to their clients; the consumers liked our service; and, our contractor was very pleased with the service we were providing.
The crisis transportation teams are still a crucial part of the community crisis system and due to the superb job of our employees in the field; we have developed a first class reputation that has allowed us to grow in other areas of behavioral transportation.
Our Organization
ComTrans is made up of various jobs. Our workforce consists of Routine Drivers, Crisis and Ambulance Drivers, Dispatch, Data Entry, various Administrative positions, and management.
