Community Impact Award - Pima Federal Credit UnionPima Federal Credit Union - Community Stewardship Program
Pima Federal Credit Union's core values include a commitment to enriching the lives of their members and surrounding communities, fostering engagement, and encouraging employees to get involved in community efforts. To this end, the Community Stewardship Program was introduced in early 2011 to enable employees at every level of the credit union to utilize both paid and unpaid time each quarter to engage in volunteer activities. This initiative was met with overwhelming success and has exceeded all expectations set forth for the program.
During 2011, a total of 131 employees (85% of Pima FCU's staff) enterprise-wide spent 1,039 hours participating in a variety of activities to improve their community. Community events were arranged by the Human Resources department and IMPACT (community outreach) Team. Pima Federal Credit UnionThe year was 1951. A small group of teachers with a similar idea and common purposed joined together to form a new kind of financial institution - a cooperative credit union. They pooled together their resources and started Pima County Employees Federal Credit Union with $84 in total assets.
Today, that garage based cooperative has grown to Pima Federal Credit Union, with over $350 million in assets and 7 financial centers!
Over the last 60 years, Pima Federal has remained true to the humble beginnings of that dedicated group of teachers. We have thrived because of a firm commitment by all employees to the original principles of the early credit societies.
