As the mental health physician, responsible for the diagnosis and treatment of mental illnesses through a combination of personal counseling (psychotherapy), psychoanalysis, hospitalization and/or medication.
Responsible for providing clinical services to patients at the facility.
Practice within medical protocols defined by federal and state regulations, as well as by corporate, facility policy or procedures.
Review medical information on patients to ensure medical stability and to offer medical recommendations.
Evaluate patients for mental, emotional or behavioral disorders.
Treat or direct treatment of patients, utilizing a variety of psychotherapeutic methods and medications.
Review and complete medical information for individual care plans, documents services and information in a timely manner.
Maintain confidential documentation, compliance and billing in accordance with the policy and procedures.
Performs other functions and tasks as assigned.
Doctoral degree in Medicine (MD or DO). Three or more years post graduate degree practice experience, previous experience as a Medical Director preferred; no history of alcohol or drug misuse for a period of three years before employment, for a facility providing services to that population.
Current license to practice medicine, by the state in which the facility(s) operate; board certification or certificate of admissibility for board certification in a behavioral health specialty. Current DEA credentials to prescribe controlled substances without restrictions and per regulation within the state in which the practitioner will be working.
